The Story

The wholesaler cut out the wholesaler.

For years I supplied king crab to the trade, moving up to 10,000 pounds a week. I know what this product costs at the dock, and I know what happens to the price by the time it reaches your table.

Here is the honest picture: king crab is scarce. Catches have been low for about 5 years across the industry, and that is why retail prices keep climbing. I can't change the catch. What I can change is how many hands touch your crab before you do.

So now I sell direct. Wild caught legs, cleaned and split to the half shell so you're not paying for waste, blast frozen at peak so it arrives as good as it left the boat. One price: $85 a pound.

Crab questions, answered

How do I thaw the legs?
Slow and cold is best. Put the legs in the fridge overnight, 8 to 12 hours, in a tray or bag to catch drips. In a rush, seal them in a bag and submerge in cold water for 30 to 60 minutes. Never thaw at room temperature or in the microwave.
How do I cook them?
The legs are already cooked before freezing, so you're just reheating. Steam thawed legs 5 to 7 minutes, or brush with butter and broil 3 to 4 minutes per side. The half shell cut means the meat is right there, no wrestling with the shell.
Where is pickup?
Pickup is in the Los Angeles area. When you reserve a box we'll confirm the exact pickup address and a time window. Bring a cooler if you have a drive ahead of you.
When do you deliver?
We deliver across Southern California on a regular basis. Northern California delivery runs once a week, so reserve early to make that week's truck. We'll confirm your delivery day when you order.
Do you ship outside California?
Yes. We pack your box frozen for shipping to other areas. The customer covers the shipping cost, which we quote before anything is charged.
Supply is scarce. Boxes are not endless.
